Welcome to the Great Bowden Music Fest

We are a summer music festival founded in 2014 and held during early July in the beautiful village of Great Bowden situated in south Leicestershire.  The series features local and international musicians performing classical music, jazz, music theatre, choral and chamber music over four days in the parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Great Bowden.

Founded by Christopher White, Artistic Director and Violinist

'When I moved to Great Bowden in July 2011, I was delighted to become a resident of such a model English village, with a beautiful green and church on the edge of a thriving town. Once feeling at home, I immediately thought it would be perfect for a concert series and as a professional violinist, I am delighted that the Great Bowden Music Fest has become an established, well-supported cultural event in the Market Harborough area. Now in its fourth year, the principle aim of the Fest remains as incorporating three criteria within a high quality concert series: to use local groups, to support and showcase young talent and to promote professional musicians with an added international element. 2017 has concerts to suit all tastes with MOSTLY MOZART, FROM STAGE AND SCREEN, ALL THAT JAZZ and ENGLISH SUMMER SERENADE as its four main evening concerts, as well as Coffee and Chamber Music/Coffee and Piano, all over four days, 6-9th of July. For more details, please view our Fest 2017 and  Fest Artists 2017.'

Pat Oakley (Fest Chairman)

“Welcome to the beautiful church of St Peter and St Paul for ourfourth annual music festival. In this wonderful venue I’m sure you’re going to appreciate magnificent music. As in previous years, we have endeavoured to treat you to a range of music from classical to jazz and songs from stage and screen. In this, we hope to reach out to audiences who appreciate the differing genres. To this end, we have called upon international, national and local talent. My grateful thanks go to Christopher White our Artistic Director, to Melanie and the rest of the committee for their hard work and dedication in the planning of this event. Thanks must also go to James Shakespeare, our outgoing chairman whose infectious enthusiasm for this event has contributed to its success over the last three years. A huge thank you must also go to our sponsors for their very generous contributions without which we could not treat you to these fabulous evenings. Please sit back, appreciate and enjoy the performances.”
